Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

Of course you do! But re-using a card can be quite beautiful, if you're artistic and know how to do it with style. It's also a green alternative to always buying new.

Well, could you explain what a bridal shower in your experience is? Hazeleyes has been kind enough to explain what hers are like and answer all questions. Why not fill her in on your traditions?

Good point. And I wish someone would explain why things are different where they live.

Oh well. Hey, check your e-mail. I e-mailed you yesterday.

No one has explained the point. You're right.

It's still a waste of paper, costs to recycle, energy to recycle, etc., if each couple brings 2 cards + 2 envelopes. It's green to simply hand in 1 card/envelope. I feel bad for all of these couples who are not intimate enough to get at least THIS agreed upon. Sounds fairly straightforward.

Because life is different. People are different. Values are different. SES is different. Traditions are different. There isn't a clear cut reason why; it just *is*.

You're wrong. Several people have explained it over and over and over. The point is ... get ready, maybe you should write it down this time ... the point is ... THE PERSON WANTS TO.

So rather than explain one's traditions, it's easier to pick apart the traditions of Hazeleyes who, for some reason I don't know why, has been kind enough to explain in detail her traditions? Got it.

If invited to the wedding shower, it's an indication you're a friend of the bride/groom. You're not the &Guest.

Why did you have a wedding shower 2 years after your wedding?
