Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

You mean the whole congregation didn't gather round to stare at your fingers while he put the ring on your hands LOL.

Yes. We. Did.

I'm not saying that the male part of the relationship doesn't need to keep up, he surely does! Also, I'm not saying that the other half needs to see you in full dress makeup all the time, it's the pride that one puts into their body that is a reflection of someone's whole personality.
And the part about the 300 lb. woman, definitely TMI. LOL!!

You seem to be better off without him, I say good riddance!

If your DH came unshaven and hair mussed up, would you have felt the same way about him?

"He put a ring on my finger yes. But my hands weren't being "presented". He saw them. Virtually no one else did. Who the hell cares about my nails??"
He saw your nails. Personally, I'd want him to look at something nice.

"Um, no. I already stated that I didn't."

You cut your nails and cuticles and I'm sure filed them, right? You said they were neat and trim. How do you trim them if not with your teeth?

Why is that TMI? you don't think someone who is a person of size deserves to be able to command the dance floor? only skinny girls with manicures should be able to 'show off'?
This woman was gorgeous b/c she loved to dance, loved the music and was glowing with how much fun she was having and there was so much energy comign from her it was infectious. And I was right up ther enext to her dancing and I'm 5'10 and weigh 200 pounds -s hould I have sat down too and tapped my feet while other prettier people got to dance? I think not.

This acceptance of all of us is one thing I love about my lesbian community -- it's so refreshing and so wonderful. And of course it's not limited to the gay community -- I just see it more there. I have a friend who was married to a man who expected her to wear full make up even when gardening -- she divorced him , married a man 20 years her senior who loves her the way she is and I haven't seen her in make up since!

No one's speaking of the whole congregation, it's the most important person in your life!

I never stated doing it for anyone else but the man in your life.

Yes, I would.

Although I hardly think clean, neat nails = mussed hair.

And, dh has a 5'oclock shadow by 9pm every morning, so he often looks unshaven. On our recent trip to Mexico, he went about 4 days without shaving and man, I still loved him with all my heart and thought he was the best man in the world.
