Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

seriously? I don't think of myself as all that amazing...I think of myself as just gettinb y frankly. but as I said earlier -- if you ignore housework, leave the clothes in the dryer for a few days and give up on the notion of homecooked meals then really you can get ALOT done! LOL

Well then your idea of getting dressed up for a wedding is alot different than mine. Nails were not something I was going to ignore especially if people are asking to look at your ring.

Ehh, my nails looked fine. Polished? Painted? Nahh, but they looked fine.

Yes, seriously, I think you and son.of.adam are amazingly disciplined.

She hasn't asked. Are you saying YOU are curious about what goes on in other parts of the country?

TY. It's not so much discipline for me as it is laziness. Truly. If I try to exercise after work or on the weekends, I just wont' do it. I get started in my day and never want to go to the gym. But, if I go when I'm only half-awake and operating in automatic-robotic mode, then I go. But again, ty.

it's the same with me -- I like getting it out of the way so I can enjoy my after work hours. When I don't have Liza I try to get in my 'long' rides on Saturdays and Sundays so when I do have her I can enjoy weekends without feeling guilty about not working out.

Plus as much as I extoll the virtues of loving your body - i know I have to work out this hard to be this chubby - if I didn't work out I be seriously seriously seriously fat. and I like food too much to diet so I work out relentlessly instead.

We spent Friday evening with our out-of-town guests, had breakfast with them on Saturday morning, got married at 2 pm, served a full buffet that went until six pm, and they were free to eat on us at the resort dining room that evening if they were still hungry. Most people took the opportunity to go into the city that evening. After we closed down the reception around 6, we spent the rest of the evening alone. It was our wedding night. That part was all about us. We hosted a big brunch on Sunday morning for the people that were still there.

I'm sorry I missed it.
