Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

Funny how we New York girls conveniently time getting regular, professional manicures closely with getting engaged!!

(I no longer live on LI, but I still consider myself a true New Yorker!)

I've never had a manicure in my life nor do I give myself manicures other than filing a nail if it gets ragged....never worried about whether my cuticles were presentable. Nor, thankfully, does DH. When he got the ring on my finger, he said he felt "relieved." He wasn't sure I would really go through with it up until then. But he wasn't totally relieved until we went down to city hall and filed the paperwork and got the legal certificate of marriage!

Do men routinely get manicures so their cuticles will look presentable at their weddings, or is this a woman thing only? I remember getting all teary and excited about putting the ring on the hand of the man I loved more than life itself and was looking forward to spending the rest of my life with. I don't know WHAT his cuticles looked like that day. I don't know what they look like today, over seventeen years later. I do know I am STILL looking forward to spending the rest of my life with him. That's gotta count for something.

My dad got his only manicure of his life (up to that point, at least) for my wedding day.

Interesting. Was it just "because" or was he having his hands photographed holding yours or something?

I have seen men getting manicures and pedicures while I am in the nail salon.

It could be. I think a party would find the guest not having to worry about paying for food, where as a get-together might mean that it's possible you'd be paying for your own food.
