Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

i know a few men who do and it's routine in the white collar world for men to get manicures. If they don't go out to a public place, they do take care at home.

While I don't care what my dh looks like, I always like when he takes the time to groom himself. A shave only takes 5-10 minutes the most.

I normally assume that the hosts of a party are bearing the expenses of the party, unless it's a frat boy kegger or a potluck.

There you go, making unfounded generalizations again. Would you like to support that statement?

I do. I go every week and alot of my friends do. I tend to notice people who do not take care of their nails and hands.

Looking at the photos in years to come, I'd want to know I looked my best on that day or attempted to. Not like a frump, lol.

But a shower is not like just going out to eat at a restaurant. There is usually a special room the shower is in and you have a sit down meal or buffet. You can play games, watch the presents being opened, make silly hats, have punch, etc.

not stepford at all. Just a woman taking care of herself, because who will if she doesn't take care of herself?

I agree. I looked the best and LOVE watching my videos and looking at my pictures because I am sooooooooo glad the way I looked. If I did it myself, I would look like what I look like everyday and not like I was getting married.
