Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

I didn't mean it about becoming a lesbian. I said it might lead to other areas of a woman's life where she doesn't take care of herself, giving the man an excuse to leave or for them to divorce or whatever.

Even though my dh could care less if I wore makeup, I am sure he likes that I look good and that I am his wife.

A written invite would make you assume you were paying for the meal? wow.

over the last 2 years I was raising 3 kids (now 4 kids with sd), working full time, dating bf (current dh:), taking kids to singing/songwriting lessons, religious school, basketball, picking them up from jazz band or after school help, etc. Oh, and last year planning a wedding and this year a bat-mitzvah.

Just about the only thing that i couldn't fit in was exercising.

A case that I am speaking of was a shower that I was invited to and on the invite it said "given by" alexis, now alexis is 8 years old so we know that she wasn't paying for it. It turns out the mother of the woman (who was having a baby shower) thought it would be cute to put the woman's other daughter as the "giver" of the shower. Also, another time, an aunt hosted a bridal shower in her yard for my friend and she didn't pay for it, the friend's mom did.

i've never heard of paying for your own meal to attend a shower of any kind! the whole point is that you are invited to a meal AS A GUEST.
