Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

So then it's not odd, at all?

<<"Now you are saying that you have heard of only bringing cash to the wedding?"

I never said that. Please cite. >>

It was a question, based on your comments that you thought it was odd that I had never heard (before this board) of only bringing cash to the wedding.

So when my kids go to a friends party, should I sign the gift from mom & dad as WE paid for the gift? Anytime names are signed on a card, it is from ALL of those people, no matter whose money it was. We have a wedding this weekend and we are all going and I will be signing the card from the four of us. I guess it is only from 2 people instead of 4 because I don't expect my 8 and 3 year old to pay.

Because you didn't bring a gift, you boyfriend did it for you.

Yes my comments on this board and again, there is little resemblance to what is being debated by others.

Now you are comparing adult actions to children's actions?

Yikes.

Maybe not the men you hang out with --- then again I think Kathy Bates rocks.

"So then it's not odd, at all?"
No.
"It was a question, based on your comments that you thought it was odd that I had never heard (before this board) of only bringing cash to the wedding. I'm a little unclear as to your position."

It was a question with no question marks, gotcha!
