Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

I used the example of my mom when she did not work. Does that mean SHE did not give a gift either because my dad brought home the money?
Maybe she lives a life of separating money. We do not. We put both checks into our checking and savings account and pay our bills like that. We do not have yours and mine bills.

I think this may have been a problem throughout this discussion...I wonder if everyone's using the same definition?

I don't consider trimming and cutting of nails to be a manicure. They're parts of the manicure process, but not the whole thing. I have to wonder if this could have been a problem with this discussion.

I don't have either and haven't received a manicure in years.

Are you saying that the most important day of someone's life, (ie the wedding day), should be about appearances?

Shouldn't it be about content?

PS. I think I posted this before but here's a link to a photo of me and Kelly at Gay pride this year -- two chubby gals with no makeup, bitten nails, baseball hats and happier than ever! LOL (I'm the one on the right-- duh the taller one duh) . Photo courtesy of the roving Delta Airlines photographer!

Well, by your definition, I'm not sure if I've ever had a manicure then. I do my own cutting and filing at home. I've never gone to a salon to have that done. I don't wear nail polish.

Where has Missydee gotten anything you said wrong? I've been reading every post in the exchange between you two, and she's recounted absolutely everything you said correctly.
