Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

If, for whatever reason, said child wanted their parents to be there, and the parents said they wouldnt, because they didnt agree with the adults child religion, of course it would be doing just that. Its a nonverbal admonishment, but an admonishment nonetheless. Unless the parents belong to a religion that prohibits them from setting foot in another church, I cant see how it would be anything else.

I don't think the 2nd should be less but some people have a big wedding for their 1st and don't want to do that over again. I work with a girl who is getting married for the 2nd time and she is doing the whole huge wedding over again.

I know you are divorced but I still enjoy my video after all these years. I still enjoy the day by watching it and like to see everyone else having a great time.

lololol!! So true with shoes! I got a normal pair of white satin shoes and my sister embelished them with beads and pearls. From my dress brushing up against them, almost all her hard work was gone at the end of the night!

I agree but if you can afford better things, why not have them? My dh's aunt also video taped parts of the wedding. It is NOTHING like the professional one and I would not have tried to save money on that.

We have an amateur video like that too. It is good for laughs but not like the professional one.

There are alot of things I think people think are too expensive that others think is not. It all depends on what you are getting for your money and if you have it to spend.

ok. i'm going to go out on a limb here and just call that wrong. i can't imagine my brother comparing marriage 1 to marriage 2 in ways only defined by swank wedding costs and if you've alaready btdt, the aisle and all, repeating the whole big to do seems so inappropriate....that ranks right up there with a bride wearing white at the wedding to the man she lived with first, too. just wrong, imo.
