Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

"believe in playing tourist in my own city just as I enjoy others."

could've fooled me when you asked her if she travels or not and stated that she would be able to if she didn't spend her money elsewhere.

Everyone should have kids. They are the greatest joy in the world. But they are also terrorists. You'll realize this as soon as they are born, and they start using sleep deprivation to break you.

exactly.... and let me tell you, my parents never 'spent freely' a day in their life either -- (did I ever tell you about listening to my father cry at night about college costs? I'm not making that up either... LOL)

but then your statement 'we had enought for the honeymoon and house AND a fancy wedding" is more accurately that while you may have had enough for the honeymoon and the house your parents had the money for the wedding... that's more the exception than the rule in the "set" or 'circles" that I "run in"

Yes. We. Did.

I don't know if it could, if you take out the stress level. But then, I didn't say it could.

So the "we" in the we leave town, wasn't the the entire family.

You're confusing two posters.

PKA asked about travel. I made the statement about spending her money elsewhere ... and it was meant in jest as a reference back to other threads.

But thanks for playing!

Again, I don't recall.
