Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

So then perhaps you should have more understanding for all of those people who never venture out of their town?

How many times are you going to ask me this? There ARE people who never leave their town and save all their money. Who? ok my fil and his wife if you need to know an example.

Not if they can afford to go out of town but don't want to spend the money.

As I posted that's exactly what I'm doing: So tell me again why it's okay for a family to spend thousands on a vacation while another family stays close to home and saves money than it is for a bride to spend tens of thousands on her wedding or another who scrimps and saves every step of the way?

she can't tell you AGAIN why it's okay, because she never said it was.

There weren't any questions to Hazel about her not taking vacations?

Personally I'm more in line with Fiona (minus the green tint, though). Not that we live in a swamp but I'm unimpressed with the Cinderella story (unless it Rogers and Hammerstein on stage). I did NOT want to be Cinderella but I recall thinking I was better off than she. I can ignore my in-laws, how do you ignore the king?
