Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

How do you know how many people she knows that don't leave town? Maybe she didn't list everyone she knows.

I understand that. We usually get one gift for anything but my dh has done that before, getting something else small from himself.

Do you know the context in which it was stated?

she was being polite, I'm sure. She said she rememberd getting something off the registry. doesn't take much "knowing" of a person to buy a gift the person had already picked out.

Of course, if she hadn't taken a gift, i'm sure she'd have been accused of not "covering her plate."

Not a true gentleman then if he wasnt responsible for the gift.

Yeah well, since she didn't continue dating the person, it very well could be that he wasn't a true gentleman. Which, of course, she never stated he was.
