Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

Correct that's what she said first. Then clarified to say she had met the couple of a few different occasions. Next, it will somehow be her long lost cousin, lol.

I just don't see as a date you would be obligated to get something unless of course you spoke with your date and said you would pick up the gift.

What odd questions in response to my post. But I'm game.

1. Ummm, I hope not. LOL

2. Not a thing. I don't even know you. Do you have something against any poster here?

yes, she listed 2 people she knows as not going on vacation. Did she say that was it?

Then you should understand that those who don't appear to spend very much might be just as happy with their lives and their leisure activities as those who spend in a manner as to suggest they're living it up.

Ah, so you get to decide how they enjoy their life?

lololol!! I just don't see why as a date you would bring a gift? I was my dh's date before we were married and I never wrote out a check (since we don't give gifts) for a gift. I was his date, not his wife.

I could see that. If I had to buy my own gift for a wedding that my date was invited to, he wouldn't be around that long either.

He had no need to be responsible for anyone's gift but his own.
