Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

I didn't say you didn't answer it, I said you jumped all over it. Answering it would have been "No." Jumping all over it was, well, what you posted! LOL

Everyone should have kids. They are the greatest joy in the world. But they are also terrorists. You'll realize this as soon as they are born, and they start using sleep deprivation to break you.

Sure they can. I bet there are people there that have spent in the hundreds for their weddings.

Agree. Just wanted to inform you that the poster clarified, so don't be surprised if the wedding couple is now her best friends!

Never said I wasn't assuming. The action of not being responsible for a gift for his date shows that he's not a true gentleman. Just in that little action though.

If somebody doesn't want to travel then travel would not be an enjoyable way to spend their money. Not everybody likes the same things. And not spending money on some particular thing does not mean a person is unaware that it is fun for others.

She could have easily answered "I know more than a handful of people, incluing my in-laws, that sit around and never go anywhere."

THAT would have been support for "a lot". Listing two people is not.
