Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

What was the original post? The original post to me was 668 and you claimed no such thing. You didn't claim you met them prior to the wedding until 691.

I am stating that him not being responsible for the gift is not being a true gentleman. That's my opinion. Are you remembering now if you did have that conversation with him??

Why? Because they were dating? FYI, whatever etiquette rule you're imagining was broken when PKA brought her own gift to the wedding never existed. Nor do you have any idea why she brought a gift other than the obvious one, which is that she felt like it. Nor do you even know that her date *didn't* offer to bring a gift from the two of them, or even that he didn't actually go ahead and give one from the two of them. Anyone invited to a wedding is allowed to bring a gift, period.

So now you are up to four in the "a lot" of people?

I'm not going by any etiquette rules, I'm going by common decency. That's just how I feel. If no one else does, that's certainly their right.

She never said 2 was it, did she? Please cite that post. TIA

That would be incorrect, again.

Post 647, the first post on the issue: Oh, I have also gone as a date.

Or maybe they know better than you do what they enjoy, simple as that.

Post 668 was not my first post on the issue.

Again, incorrect.

Wouldn't it have been easier to admit that you didn't know the context than provide a false one?
