We also had a cocktail hour before the meal so you were able to eat as much as you wanted there. The vienesse hour was the same. As many desserts as you wanted. No one was going to go hungry.

Very true. I want to do a sunflower arrangement for my kitchen table. I would never do something fake outside my house though.

No it is not. I was brought up that you feed your guests and feed them well. You NEVER leave them to go home hungry or thirsty. That's why Italian grandma's are always saying Mangia Mangia-lol!! They will feed you until you burst!

I got up and out the door all by myself starting in 7th grade. Occasionally, my mom would make me turn on a light so she could see what I was wearing before I left the house. (She was sleeping, but wanted me to let her know when I was leaving). I wore some pretty ridiculous things . . .

But don't you think that maybe they change when they leave the house? I doubt all of these girls you see the way they are dressed leave their house in those clothes.

Yes, I am Italian, Irish and Scottish. The majority of the people from my side and my dh's (Italian, Irish and German) were Italian.

That reminds me of the time I spent in Chile. The first time we were there DH's family brought us more food that we could possibly eat, and we kept eating to try to empty our plates to be polite. But they kept bringing more food and more food. It was crazy. We finally realized that if you cleaned your plate, it was a sign that you needed more food-- i.e. you hadn't had enough to eat. I gained 10 pounds in 2 weeks!

I am not debating whether or not anyone went hungry. I assume that none of her guests went home thirsty either

I am debating whether or not you limiting your guest to one meal is the same as the other poster putting limits on her guests alcoholic drinks and it is. You both set limits.

In your case the entree meal had limits but not other food. In her case alcohol was limited but there has been nothing to indicate that there was not other things available for the guests to drink.
