Like someone giving you a post dated check and then having it bounce and making us pay a fee and then saying they will invite you for dinner and never doing it. I am getting old and it is hard to remember alot of things (lol!) but there are somethings you just never forget.
That is very nice. I had a few people (friends of family) who came to the church too. I go to church weddings too even if I am not invited to the reception (mostly girls at work) because I enjoy seeing them get married.
There was something just on TV here about a couple (they were men so not sure if it the same couple) that said they have been together 50 or 60 years, not sure which one.
I guess it is like when you have a shower and write the gift on the card so you know what to thank for. I never said on the wedding thank you the amount, just "your generous gift". Why wouldn't you write the amount down? That is why they wrote Wedding Gift_______.
I wrote down the exact amounts of gifts too. It was helpful to know so that I knew what to give in return as I got invited to weddings. I don't mean I gave the same amount to the same people, but it's good to know the going rate. Now that it's been 8 years since I got married and my friends are long since married, I don't really know. If I get invited to another local wedding I'll need to discreetly ask around.
Also my mother wanted to know who gave what. She planned the whole shebang, so it was the least I could do.
I can't believe there is someone else like me here-lol!! I thought I was the only one the way people are telling me it is so horrible that I know what I got for gifts.

True. That's why I'll never again marry someone without living with him first.
