lololol!!! I understand that-my gf comes from a HUGE Italian family. Her "immediate" family (1st cousins included) at Thanksgiving or Christmas is 50 people alone-lol!! Everyone has 2 or 3 kids and there are a ton of cousins.
I think the Vienesse (sp?!) thing is probably something in NY. They did not have one in FL when we went to a wedding there. It's really not that exciting but the zeppolies were the best I ever had. They made them right there for you. Lots of pastries, cookies, cakes, chocolate covered strawberries. It was just nice to have something else than the cake.
I am Italian, Irish and Scottish
My dh is Italian, Irish and German

My point exactly; the true traditions involved are few, so it's not usually possible to call any particular wedding "nontraditional".

Yes, for the most part is it the thought that counts. Please don't tell me you have never heard any woman say that she was "slighted" on her bday or anniversary or Valentine's Day because no gifts were received. It's a rare person who will say that they do not care if they receive gifts or not for special occasions. But let that event pass with not a one gift and most likely there will be a complaint.
*disclaimer for women on this board since I know that this doesnt apply to them.

I agree with you partially.

I'm 1/2 Italian too and I've never heard of it - maybe it's just another thing typically done in NY. Both weddings I went to in NY were not Italian weddings.

Really? I live in NJ and previously lived on LI and I think the etiquette is exactly the same. We always bring something to parties and dinner dates- a dessert or a bottle of wine or something to occupy all the kids at the party. I've never seen a party that had too much dessert.

At the time we got married, or now?
