I didn't remember that! But yes you're right on the money-- it is very different from southern new england -- I bet you wouldn't recognize Manchester now though, it's really gone through a rebirth. I moved here in 1989 and even I don't recognize it sometimes!
I don't think my world will crumble around me if Liza has a different kind of wedding than I had (and apparently my wedding broke all sorts of 'rules' according to some members of this board). Honestly the thing I hope most of all is that Liza waits until she's about thirty....live a little life first and don't do what I did and get married at 23 b/c you think that's what you're 'supposed to do" See where following rules got me? LOL
oh,i definately hear you there. i didnt' marry until i was 28. dh turned 30 that year and was still in school. we were living the only life we knew. if i could do it all over again,i think we would have waited until he was out of higher ed..but i would never tell my kids to take it from me,don't do what i did. they'll have to make those decisions for themselves.
edited to add a p.s. adn no,my dds lives wouldn't crumble if i didn't entertain the same sort of wedding i had..but i would if i couldn't carry on a TRADITION that has spanned generations. my thoughts.
