stay at home or work

Many of you have replied to my response about stay at homes moms not wanting to work. I have to say that obviously many of you are blessed to be able to balance your work life and home life with little or no problems. As far as my training and skills, I have been a CNA for 7 years, working with developmentally disabled adults. While I was a valuable asset to the facility I worked in, also dependable and efficient, that didn't matter. I had nearly lost my job due to my daughter having too many asthma attacks, strep throat, etc. Unlike many of you, I did not have a support group or people on standby in case I needed a sitter. Therefore, when she was sick, it was me who took care of her, and me who nearly lost my job.
I am in no way suggesting that women should stay home with their kids or that one way is beter than the other. I was just responding to someone who obvioulsy doesn't understand the point of view of someone who is happy to have the opportunity to do so.
I have been considering going back to work in order to help our family finances. I realize that my staying home doesn't allow us to have and do as much extra as we were able to afford before. Thankfully, my sister is now a stay at home mom and has offered to keep my kids for me if/when I do decide to go back to work.
I have decide , however, that CNA work is nolonger for me and may like to try my hand in a clerical position, hopefully Mon.-Fri.
Also, since I have been married and am no longer a single parent, I have more of a support group than I have ever had in my entire life.
But, please don't think that I feel like you can't work and be there for your kids. I just have not had an opportunity that has allowed me the freedom that many of you have had with your careers. And I believe that staying at home with my kids has been the most important and wonderful thing that I have been able to give them. They know that I am always here and I don't have to worry about what happens if they are sick and I don't need anyone else's permission to attend school functions or other activities. Staying home has been a blessing that I thank God for every day.

You know I've waved the choose tow ork at home banner for nine years now and I meant it and I honestly love(ed)my jobs. But today I would walk out the door of this theater and never look back if I had someone at home to support me because today it sucks.
Yes. We. Did.
By the way, PROPS on the Palin banner. I couldn't agree more.
"I have to say that obviously many of you are blessed to be able to balance your work life and home life with little or no problems."
Yes, I am blessed, but I also helped things along by finishing my education and working a few years before having children.

"I also like getting more housework done and having more family time due to the part time hours."
I like doing little housework, having a lot of family time and the money and fulfillment that come with full time hours for me.

I think that the most important and wonderful thing that I have been able to give them is ME as their MOM.

My kids know that too -- and I've woh for 17+ years.

I don't either. If they are minorly ill, they are home with the nanny. If they need to leave school early because they are sick, they call dad. If they have a fever 101 or greater OR are throwing up, I stay home.

Neither do I, as most of the functions here are at night.

Being a WOHM has been a blessing that I thank G-d for every single day. I love that I've been able to find a good balance between the two.
