Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

"shhhh....now you will get bombarded :) Just joking around. "

LOL. Never thought of that. :>

"I do think that there is an ideal to live with credit. I do believe that you can get yourself into trouble. "

Yep, we weighed the costs of the new appliances against the trouble of using old ones that didn't work that great. And we decided we really needed the new ones (Which are also more energy efficient than our old ones)

So we have a bit of a debt on one card because of it. But it was soooooooooo worth it... (Flat ceramic top stove.... so easy to clean! Woohoo!)

I guess I can't see the point. Knowing what other people have saved doesn't change what we need to save.

If all of your friends had saved much less than you, would that make you change your savings strategies? If your friends had saved more at this point, would that worry you if your financial advisor and the on-line calculators tell you that you are on track for your own goals?

>>What's the difference between a regular relator and a resale realtor <<
um,what i said was *relocation* realtor...yep,there are some realtors whose reputations are more for the buyers, buyers agents. and i spelled out why in the post you responded to. those of us more transient rely lots on professionals like that.

But isn't anyone that is buying a house relocating?

Even if you want to restict the meaning of the word "relocate" to exclude "in town" moves, the number of home buyers that are relocating is HUGE. It isn't some privileged magic subset of home buyers.

Buyers agents don't only work with those that are movign to new towns or states. And most buyers agents are also sellers.

Why is it hard to believe that there are people who pay off their credit cards every month- month after month? I have never bought anything with my credit card that I didn't pay in full when the bill came. Why is that considered to be perfect?
