Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

What?! Were we supposed to replace the toilet seat every time we moved? That's new to me, I've never heard of that, nor have we ever done it. A good bit of bleach or alcohol does wonders for germs.

Antiques and used furniture are 2 different things to me. Used could be any age (particularly not too old) of furniture and antiques are something that is very old.

"Why?"

becasue adult living on their own should not depend on mommy and daddy for money solutions.

"I didnt say that" Yes you did direct quote.

"I would have borrowed the money from my parents. If one cant afford to purchase a mattress..one should probably not be living on their own."

It's not ok to live on your own if yau can not afford a new mattress but is ok if you can run to mommy and daddy.

"

Talk about your snotty little judgments, but whatever. Sometimes, people do what they have to do."

I did not say this. Here is the quote. They thought it was snotty to say that if you can't afford a mattress, you should'nt be living out on your own. I kind of agree. You can't find another $200 for a mattress? Doesn't make sense to me when you are able to come up with security and rent for a place right away.

I can't believe that there are only a few of us who think a new mattress is a necessity.

If someone who could not afford a new mattress should not be living on their own then doesn't that also mean that someone who had to borrow the money from their parents to purchase a new mattress should not be living on their own because they would fall under the catagory of someone who could not afford a new mattress.

I guess you missed my whole couch scenario. But...none of my furniture was every purchased on revolving debt. So YES, I can have it now while I pay for it.

It's so funny that no one has done this! Everyone I work with and family do it.
