Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

What it is is that some of us have relized that there is a large difference between a nessisty and want.

Antiques are used furniture though. Even used furniture that is not antique can be more expensive than new furniture. So, again, why do you keep implying that someone who buys antiques or other used furniture must not be able to afford to buy new? New does not necessarily mean nicer, nor does it necessarily mean better.

Between my dd's forgetfulness about flushing, and dh's bad aim, all my toilet seats are good candidates for replacement on a weekly basis! The Dunkin' Donuts I was in this morning, however, had an immaculate toilet, complete with a nice clean seat.

I just personally think a mattress is a necessity.

I did not say that. I said I am not into antiques. Not all antiques are expensive though so it might be cheaper for someone to buy that than new.

Of course and those thing are at the top of my priority list too but I would have not moved into a new place without a new mattress or furniture. We saved for 2 years to have these things. I have seen people live without mattresses or box springs and could never understand that.
