Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

That sounds nice! My sister just got her bathroom re-done and I love her seat. It is not the most comfortable but it slowly goes down so the kids are never banging the seat down. I buy the cushiony ones for the kids even though they rip all the time.

I dont think that was the name. I will have to see if I can find the leftover box we have. Eventually, we'll put more down, maybe into our room, but the living room was crucial at the time because of the level of traffic it got and the dirt embedded in it.

What is wrong with a few scratches? It shows that there is life in the house.

Sure, people can be slobs. And when you're in a hotel, you can bet the people who preceded you, and the ones who preceded them, and so on, probably didn't have your standards of cleanliness. But it doesn't matter, because things can be *cleaned*. Otherwise, we'd all be eating with disposable forks and spoons all the time.

Why would anyone change carpet if it's in perfectly good condition?

Carpets can be cleaned professionally and look brand new afterward.

My Mom has a story about Donna Reed sending home the old carpet from her house in California to be used in her (Donna Reed's) parents house in Iowa. People didn't waste things in the not so far past.
