Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

Where is the direct quote you spoke of? Not to mention did you miss WITHIN MY HOME?

<<>>

Yep AGAIN I was talking about MYSELF and MY standards.

<<>>

So are you now saying that it wasn't a direct quote just more of an assumption? Yes a used mattress is unacceptable to me FOR me WITHIN my home. I dont care what others do. I stand by what I said. You cant afford a mattress you probably shouldnt be out on your own. Where do you plan on sleeping?

For ME with MY home. I dont care what others do.

Now...where is that direct quote?

Wellll not really. Where I live I can have hardwoods installed and stained on site for about $6.25 sq ft. When we buy Armstrong we pay about $7.85 sq ft. Depends on the laminate.

I think carpet is disgusting and I don't know why anyone would put it in if they were already putting in new floors and had the choice.

I paid less than $5 a sf for the Pergo, installed. I paid less than $3 a sf for the Armstrong and installed it ourselves in a day. MUCH MUCH cheaper than hardwood in the places I've lived.

I prefer hardwood floors. DH has allergies, and I hate vacuuming.

Pergo here is the cheapest. Funny how it varies.

Well, silly, you're different. You're ex military and your dh is still in. We all know that's barely one step above welfare--you can't really consider yourself as "on your own" because you rely on an employer for money. ;)

(standard disclaimers for those who think the above is serious)

There's nothing about "modern, contemporary styles" that the Shakers didn't do first, hundreds of years ago.
