Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.
"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

"I would be happy to lend my children money if they ever needed it."
Not necessarily, no.

"Maybe I know different kinds of people than everyone else here because where I was raised, you establish yourself and have better things as you get older."
How many of your friends are millionaires? I'd bet very few with that philosophy.

OK, I'll bite.
Why allegedly is that?

<It shows you don't really care what your home looks like. I know scratches can happen anywhere but if there is alot of them, then you are not preventing them. To me, that means you don't care about having a clean home either. >
Okay you are just cracking me up.
honestly,i wouldn't trust an advisor who told me to carry a balance on a credit card at 0% while depositing funds in a money market account that grew a greater rate of return. i don't believe anybody who says they have the balance to pay for a big ticket purchase but choses the money market arrangement, instead. you either do or don't have it.....maybe i'm just too conservative. i see too many what ifs,too - *what if* dh were to lose his job, what if the market were to uncontrolably take a nose dive,i'm not only out the market funds to pay off that credit card but i'm also appraoching the end of a cc promotional period that will tack on all that accumulated interest that has been accruing for the months it was at a zero......there's the rule of simple convenience that credit cards still maintain a reputation of and the 60 day rule (if you can't pay off a cc in two months, you're carying too much. respectfully taken from a professional advisor,no less) that many people trust.
disclosure. not slamming hazeleye's very honest testimonies here. just my opinion about these ideal credit card arrangements that really aren't.
