Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

I never heard of anyone bringing their own mattress. The beds we had in the dorms were longer and narrower than a normal twin bed. It was hard to find sheets to fit. I would expect it would also be hard to find a mattress too.

I have no clue-lol! Neither my sister or I went away, we both went to college close to home. Oh well...my daughter is not a germaphobe so she probably would care less. She would be the first to go.

Not if I was married would he have done that but my parents always help out if there is extra money they have. My grandparents were like this, if they won lotto, they split with the kids (kids meaning 50 year olds-lol!). They feel that they would rather see you use the money now instead of when they are gone.

What does that have to do with anything?

You will have to read her post.
Dorm matresses are not replaced each year.

I did read her other post. I didnt see anything about going to a college dorm. I know mattresses are not replaced in dorm rooms. I brought my own bed and mattress to school when I lived on campus both years. So did my suite mates.

I've never heard of doing that, and I went to a large University.

Her point was that a parent wouldn't be taking care of her adult children if she allowed them to sleep on a used matress. I find that silly, and completely impractical in most situations in which young adults live.

My parents themselves were sleeping on used mattresses at the time I left for college and had my first place on my own.

Unfortunately (for them, not me), my parents aren't in a position to help me if I needed it. In fact, they owe me money right now.
