Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

Because you can afford it, it's a necessity?

Interesting.

We entertain a lot, have children, pets and wear shoes in the house, heck the boys are known to wear their cleats in the house.

That's a heck of a lot newer than my floors.

I definately look past the appearance but I was brought up that you take care of things so they last a long time. There is nothing wrong with having toys and things laying around WHEN the kids are playing with them. I HATE clutter and can't stand anything sitting around that doesn't have to be there. As my son says everything has a "home". It just takes a little organization. I KNOW it is hard because my dd's room needs cleaned literally everyday to every other day as she is sooo unorganized and such a slob.

Na, some of us choose to do other things than clean.

ITA with you that yes, at times my house is cluttered and messy, especially if someone else is staying with us. I do not want it like that all the time and a couple minutes everyday to clean it up doesn't kill me. I know it is MUCH harder when the kids are home all day, no doubt about that but my mother has told me to teach them to put away each toy after they are done playing with it. She said it worked for her. We have the same house and it is not big enough to have everything out at one time.
