Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

No, my daughter has only scratched her floor with her chair. That is it. I am teaching them to take care of things so they will last a long time. It is harder with my dd than my ds!! Mostly because she takes after my dh!!

What I think of is the family I was a nanny for in college.

No. I originally stated when we first got married we bought all new furniture. We did not move into my parents house until we were married 2 years and then my old furniture stayed when my parents moved.

Oh believe me, so do I-lol!! I do a little a day so I am not spending my whole life cleaning. It makes it easier on the weekends too so there is only laundry. Especially with summer coming, I do NOT want to spend my weekends in the house.

"There was never more than a day's worth of dirty clothes in the laundry room.

She is 8 1/2. I take too much pride in my home to have it destroyed. I am letting her do what she wants with it as she is getting older, posters on the walls, etc. but I still feel like there should not be things like wrappers and food in there. She needs to learn that cloths go in the hamper, not on the floor or shoved in drawers, etc. She is a paper hound and everywhere you look there is paper. I am just trying to teach her to throw things away that are garbage.

Whatever. You can look at all my posts that I stated I bought all new furniture when I got married. I never said every peice in my house was brand new right now and this was MY furniture as a kid so basically it is not used for me, just her.
