Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

http://backofthebook.ca/living/2007/03/part-time-ophanages-part-2-job-only.html

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

Why would I have to wear a SUIT? to formal parties, weddings etc I have some fabulous LBDs that I wear, a great collection of short skirts that I can dress up or dress downm, pair of flowy palazzo pants that are heaven on earth and one terrific pair of strappy little sandals.

I would rather suffocate than wear a suit. I do have one really funky red jacket I thrown on over my black on show nights and other occassions. And I have a rotation of dressy tops I pair with my 3 different pairs of black pants on show nights as well but a suit?? no way ma'am.

I no longer own a suit. I used to own several, and when I was a lowly assistant professor going to conferences trying to impress the Powers That Were in my field, I would always give papers in a suit. Then I noticed than in my field, the more established you were in the profession, the more you were able to get away with a more relaxed look. I'm all about relaxed!

I've never in my life worn a suit to a wedding or a party!

Little Black Dresses.

This is CONCORD New Hampshire. Black tie events are fairly few and far between trust me... as in non existent... I think the Governor's inaugural ball is about it frankly.

I do have a 'creative black tie' event to go to tomorrow night and I contemplated renting a men's tuxedo but I just looked like a big dkyey waiter so I got a gorgeous dressy white tank top with a sheer white jackety thing to wear over it and am pairing that with the afforementioned palazzo pants and strappy sandals and some leftover sparkly jewelery I wore when i played Kate in "Kiss me Kate" LOL
