Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

I wear washable dresses or skirts and tops to church and am not underdressed. A few of the older ladies dress to the nines. I teach Sunday School and need to move around a lot and possibly even get art supply stuff on me. Not a time for Dry Clean Only.

DH going to church with you? Good for you guys! I had DH going with me for awhile, but he's off the kick.

Ok. So I guess I should just throw my mom in a hotel when she comes. That was one of the other reasons we purchased it now.

That is one of the benfits to going to a UU Congregation. Very few suits.

Compromise, definitely. ;)

It's not that he doesn't clean, or even that he doesn't always clean to my standards (I can deal with that), it's that he's more or less oblivious to clutter, whereas I hate having piles of stuff lying around. What we've finally worked out is that there are certain rooms in the house that are "his" that I stay away from, and he knows that if he leaves his stuff lying around in the rest of the house, I will move it (which means he doesn't leave it lying around, because he hates that.) So at our current house, that means his office, the utility room in the basement, the garage, and a shelf in the back closet are a mess. As long as the living areas stay reasonably clean, I can live with that.

I have one kid who's messy and one who's a neatnik, too.

DH has one maybe two suits. Otherwise he wears oxford shirts with chino type dockerish pants to work and Church- we wash those ourselves. I have a funeral outfit and a posh frock for fancy parties/weddings.

I think we use the dry cleaners once maybe twice a year.

DH and I were having a particular issue a year or so ago, and decided to go in for some spiritual guidance.
