Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

That's great but my dh and I would have rather gotten her a bed than sleep on a hard floor for a week. The sofa bed will be well worth it between her and anyone else that needs to sleep over.

I'm with you - wrinkles never hurt anyone. And if it bothers them when they're in their teenage years, they can do their own laundry....

I wouldn't wear wrinkled clothes, so I wouldn't expect my children to do so.

Other then a funeral, who would wear a business suit to one of those?

TO each his own. Even with a sofa bed, I would probably give my parents my bed and sleep on the sofa bed myself.

I, too, really like being able to see all of my laundry clean and put away.

How does throwing in the occasional load prevent you from playing with the kids? Fwiw, my kids are usually happy to hang out at home on Saturdays. We plan most of our outings on Sundays, although lately we usually take the kids to a badminton court saturday evenings, which doesn't really interfer with the laundry stuff.

Not all suits are "business suits," and I've worn dressy suits (think cocktail type attire, not work suits) to those occasions.

To get it all done in a day or so instead of doing loads and folding laundry every single day? The latter would drive me mad...

Well then, try this story on for size...

My mother's best friend from childhood is gay. Certain members of my family, most notably my grandmother, have had a very hard time accepting that. Well, accepting isn't really the best word to use...it's more like believing. She didn't BELIEVE that B was gay. Because you know, how would B know as much about her own self as my grandmother would? (Eye roll)

So anyway, after my stepfather's funeral, my grandmother announced that she thought maybe B was gay after all. When asked what made her change her tune, my grandmother said, "Didn't you see her at the funeral? She was wearing slacks!!"

OMG, it's been years and I still LMAO at that. My sister and I have taken it and run with it. We'll say things to each other like, "Hey, you're wearing slacks...I guess you're a lesbian today, huh?"

My family is fun. In small doses. ;-)
