Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

Because of the folding time and the machine time. Folding time because it takes 1/2 hour to fold a load ... I often don't have a 1/2 hour I'm willing to give up to fold stuff on weekdsay. Machine time because often, by the time we get home, there isn't time to wash and dry a whole load.

Oh, and then there's the whole "we don't have a full load" everyday issue too.

I guess I just like large blocks of chore free time and there's no way I could get a large block on a weekday, so I try to do a lot of the busy work during the week.

Almost all Cal wears is jeans, which don't wrinkle, and t-shirts, which barely wrinkle. Even an unwrinkled, folded t-shirt ends up wrinkled after about 5 minutes on Callahan.

Can you post an example of a suit that you would wear to a cocktail party? I'm clueless . . .

So do I, that's why we aim to have everything done by saturday afternoon. The rest of the weekend is playtime :-). Generally, I keep the house picked up and reasonably organized during the week so that the cleaning is not overwhelming on the weekend.

My kids don't care if their clothes are wrinkled. I own very few clothes that get wrinkled - I iron those that do. Do your kids actually care if their clothes are wrinkled or is it your issue?
