Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

"Ive also been told that military members get what they desirve when they die while on active duty. There have also been protesers who protest at funerals of military members and will tell the morners who are there that their loved ones died because god is punishing them because they are fighting in a war. Nice huh? This from people who call themselves christians."

Are they the "most hated family in america"? I saw a YouTube video on these protesters. I cannot believe they would protest at funerals! If they do not agree with the war... then fine, but they do not have to disrespect the soldiers. Geesh.

It is still a luxury though.

wow, do you think teachers should look the other way when they see children being abused? the thing is that when people are abusing the system it does end up costing the rest of us. any cost that employeers or the "system" incur they inevitably pass on to the rest of us. so yes, if i see someone abusing the system i believe it is my responsibility as a citizen to report that abuse. what is or isnt done about it is out of my control but my part is in reporting it.

I disagree, many jobs that won't pay for daycare might be very much worth it to the person doing the job. You may consider SAH a privilege, just accept that many of us would not think of it that way.

If you have 3 with balances on them, how did the 2 you *dont use* get balances on them? And if you use one for *things you have the money for* why does it have a balance? And why do you have department store cards if you have a major credit card?

We have 1 credit card that we use for pretty much everything and pay off monthly. And the reason we put everything on it is for the mileage.

amazingly, it works the opposite way too....I do stand behind my ctwoh being a privilege because not all can afford this very advantage....Yup, i like it that way too.

Of course your entire definition of sah being a privilege hinges on whether or not one thinks that sah is any sort of "advantage". It may be an "advantage" to you, but I'll take my woh as MY "advantage".

I guess if you participate in an activity yourself it's kinda hard to report somebody else for being more successful at it than you are, right?
