Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

Hmm, the good kind I guess. I buy Matanuska Maid. That Fred Meyer milk tastes funny to me. I do buy 1% but I think it's the same cost (as 2%). I will admit I'm not firm on those number for cost in milk. I haven't looked at the prices in quite awhile. I just buy it now. I'll look at my receipts tonight & report back my cost of milk at the commissary! lol

Lol, and see I avoid Mat Maid because of all the problems they used to have with their stuff going bad. I am not a big milk drinker, I dont notice anything weird about the taste of Freds milk or Walmarts.

I could only begin to guess what friends and neighbors make, owe or save. I only know what we make and what my sister and in-law sibs make (ballpark only).

But it's confusing because I can much more easily afford the "privilege" of SAH than you can afford to WOH and pay for childcare for 3 children from your own salary.

oh please. the dimwits who aren't paying bills, who end up filing bankruptcy do leave taxpayers holding the bag.....i don't think it's a coincidence, either that there's less pension, less retirement than long ago, either (not that citizens ever have solely relied on that, but) and that's because the dear dimwits who think any sort of junk mail cc belongs to him,who is taking advantage of the trendy loan perks is also defaulting, too. not all,but enough to see crack downs in financial lending. somebody's got to pick up the tab.......federal bankruptcy courts didn't tighten their belts because there isn't a problem with it,either. you're an attorney. certainly, you can understand that.

rambling.

"I guess I am seeing this a different way."

Yes! Yes! Yes! You are seeing it that they are wrong and you are right, even though you are both not living within your means if you use a credit card for any expense.
