Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

I agree with you!!! I know 2 girls alone on my block that built up on their parents house and they live upstairs. Unfortunately they do this because it is too expensive to buy a house so it is cheaper to put on a dormer.

You sound just like me! Neighbors have been by me for 30 years. We all know each other very well and even if the kids I grew up with moved away, their parents are still there and we still talk to them.

I LOVE the word vent. I consider my "complaining" venting!!!

GREAT post! That is exactly how I feel and the majority of the middle class families I know that need to have a woh mom.
