Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.
"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

and generally to qualify for a mortgage of any size, don't you need to at least earn 1/3 of that price as income? For example, I needed to make at least $60K in order to qualify for a mortgage of almost $200K. So, therefore a person needing a $600K mortgage MUST have a wage-earner making at least $200K. Most of those people are probably NOT working two jobs because they are in the business world climbing the corporate ladder.
Heck, we work two jobs and will probably never get to that point. It's one of the reasons that we've decided to stay put in what WAS my starter home.

and many of us hard-working wohms don't have an extra $1500 lying around to shell out for car repairs. Many of, in fact, are working hard day in and day out to just pay the bills and keep our heads above water. At the end of the month, there is very little money to move over to savings.
yes, savings of that size is ideal, however, a great many, many families are just not able to get there.

Then she tells you as a statement of fact, she doesn't believe she is scamming this system despite trying to get your dd's ss#, changing names and etc?
