Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

Not very recent. My mil lives off of money that comes to her inbetween jobs. She knows what to do to live. Very sad. This is why I am glad I do not live near her.

No one on this board. I was stating that on other boards I go on, people have indicated that friends do this just so they can stay home.

No, this is the same house with the sex offender. Like I said the rest of the neighborhood is very nice. They are the bad apples.

Based on your comments....I don't know how it would be otherwise.

You don't know the full details, you don't think anything was done.....so you are assuming that nothing was done.

So then why vent on a public debate board, if you aren't willing to do something about it?

i'm not going to find a post number but do agree that plenty of families place budgets on credit cards..my inlaws do and i thought it was a fantastic idea when i heard it - with the exception of utilities, everything goes on that thing. then one lump check goes to the credit card to pay for the groceries, car maintenance, medicines etc. they charged that month. she said plenty of people she knows do it that way...maybe their once a month pension/retirement has something to do with it or maybe it's just a creative, outside the box way of budgeting. ;)

I am not speaking of people who do this to get miles or deals. These woman do not start paying these cc's off until their kids are in school and THEN they get jobs.
