Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.
"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

Phhhbbbtt. there is no required severance in the US. Most companies, in a planned layoff, would provide some, but it isn't required, nor is it 3 months. No advance notice required either.
Unemployment would be paid in MOST circumstances, but the amount you're paid is really very very piddly. I qualified for the most allowable when I was laid off in Virginia, and it was only like $450 a month.
I do not know what specifics went on in the house. The girl who is giving me the details has been friends with this person since elementary school. They don't too much anymore because of another incident that happened between them.
There are 2 parts to the story. The first part started with the social worker and that is public knowledge. The 2nd is the wic.
Weren't you mentioning that this happens on a frequent basis or something?
