Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

If you mean OWN, then no. It will be 11 years in the fall. What difference would that make me knowing the neighbors??

Yeah, I have family who've been through layoffs in the US, NOT fun...although most of them did get a 3-6 month severance package in the end.

The unemployment insurance is nice to have but pricy!

Yes, it's quite the double standard.

It happened twice within a couple of months. I would not be able to get a loaner as we do not use the dealer for the work. We go to a local mechanic. My dh has no other way to work so he has to rent a car.

How is it public knowledge? You can find it on online.

Is it cheaper, even factoring in the cost of renting a car during the repair period?

This was done to protect our children. Not gossip.
