Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

"We recived EIC for the fist like 7 years we were married. They never asked about our BAH."

As I said the law changed (that is one of the perks of living in war time period, when in war military benefits go up). In the 80's we had to include when figuring if we qualified for EIC. Without it we would have but with it it put us over.

Since when does gossip have to be false? Talking about other people is gossip, no matter what is said.

Well, I guess everybody's different. I can't imagine having a conversation with friends in which we compared how much each of us has saved for our kids' college educations. It's hard for me to see the purpose of the conversation.

You know sometimes, helpful advice comes from these conversations.

But how would knowing how much PNJ has saved for her kids help you decide which fund to invest in? I get how a discussion of the pros and cons of different types of savings vehicles might be helpful. I just don't get how comparing how much you've saved is helpful.

talk about poor financial moves, then. lol...honestly,i think you learn as you go. i have friends whose dhs are on 3,5 year oil assignments in houston. you better believe they're in areas where equity is going to soar for the period of time they're here. if they can't afford to do that, then some will rent....we've learned as we've gone, too. when you have a husband who changes job as frequently as mine has,you learn to only settle for areas you know will have good resale. and good realtors who are helping transients find homes know that, too.
