Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

First off, it IS a debate board.>> I think I mentioned that.

That means one should be careful about posting personal things because they can be brought up and debated.>> Said that as well.

Sorry you think that it is rude to debate her personal issues, but in none of my posts was I rude in tone or in anything I said.>> This started with YOU posting HER personal financial situation. Thats rude, regardless of whether she has posted it or not. She did not ask for your opinion or your list of reasons why she should live the way you think she should.

She has complains incessantly about how she wants to sah, I simply pointed out the irony of that in relation to her other posts over the years.>> Simply pointed it out? This thread is huge.

<> I guess I feel for the underdog. I think she gets slammed a great deal. I think she needs to learn to shut down personal debates, but that doesn't make it any less rude to take a passing comment and turn it into a monster thread about someone's personal finances.

I don't know, I haven't used many. And none seriously or long term. I'd assume they vary some, as the assumptions involved could easily be different.

in *your* experiences? i thought you said you've never had to/wanted to move before......but i do agree about companies buying homes. i believe companies give you (90?) days to sell your home before the home is bought from you. a friend of mine moved to canada last summer and was able to get a much better deal selling it within the 90 days while the company handled the rest,of course....but like i said and stand behind,if you know your destination is only a temporary assigment, you're more likely to settle for an area that has a reputation for good resale than not. and relocation realtors are very good at scouting out those places over others, too.
