Staying at home a choice??

The author of this article thinks most mothers go to work because they want to, not because they have to.

"Most parents from two-parent families today do have a choice when it comes to parental care. They can try and talk themselves into believing they don't, but it really boils down to priorities."

Does anyone (other than her) really believe this? I don't know of anyone among my friends who works who wouldn't rather be staying at home with their children. But they don't have the choice!

They're all within about 20K of each other in total estimates.

I don't think my close friends have goals that differ from ours, as I explained.

At the end goal, I agree....but along the path towards that goal, I don't agree.

$20K may be "close" when you're looking at a $250K education bill. But it's "far" when you're looking at $75K to $100K.

I explained that my neighbor was good friends with this girl since elementary school and she told me about it. All she said was that it was investigated because of the 1st case but as far as she knows, she was still on it. She probably decided to claim that she was married and her dh did not make enough. These girls claim they are single and get the most they can from wic (and possibly welfare).

I guess. Or they talk to their financial advisors. But their goals and finances still aren't exactly the same as ours.
