we ARE a snarky bunch and that phrase does get bandied about alot -- I"ve also used "I would rather pluck my eyelashes out one by one than...." but a real fan favorite is the oft used but never old "I'd rather remove my nipples with a fork than...."
I don't quite understand the question. Denied communion for no reason? If there was no reason to deny them, why would they be denied? If I was denied communion for no reason, yes, I would be insulted (and very, very confused).
I have no desire to "take up" the language of the eucharist with your church. It is a beautiful ritual and I am happy to be able to observe it. And under your current Pope, I am not expecting that your church will move toward more ecumenical observances -- quite the contrary. As I have stated, your church, your rules.
I don't give a hoot if you think my personal views are relevant.
You said earlier that you think several factors which are VERY relevant to the options that parents have for their children in the summer, are not. That they are relevant is not my OPINION, it's a fact.
It is a fact that if you don't have access to a free pool, and you want to go swimming, and you don't have the money to pay admission at the pool that charges, then you probably don't have the option of swimming.
It is a fact that if you don't have a fishing pond anywhere nearby, and don't have the transportation to get to one, that you probably don't have the option of fishing.
You continue to contend that these factors don't matter, and that if parents just cared enough they'd find activities for their kids that were fun and meaningful. I wholeheartedly disagree, not on the basis of my opinion, but on the basis of logic.

I didn't read any insult either.
I am not insulted that I can't take Catholic communion. I don't care to, because of my beliefs and because I respect that denom's rules.

You don't know what in your own faith tradition prohibits just anyone from going up and getting communion?

I actually had to go back and look at where I jumped in on this...weird day!LOL
PKA had said something about someone being insulted about being denied communion in their own church, and EGD asked her if she was Catholic.
