Yes, it IS a big deal to get communion in the RCC and for us RC's is soooo worth it and I am just finishing up with my dd and my ds will be starting his "journey" next fall :)

Finallyme understands the concept, is not arguing against the open table concept. And says she never heard any priest say "this church is a closed table". (Because no one is saying that). Posters here talking about it say it is a concept, yet you & Eggd argue against it as if you do not understand or just do not want to agree.

Amilla said it's a CNut moment because you do not understand it and do not seem open to understanding what anyone is discussing. Also you always say if you do not know about it, it has never happened. Shrug. I think Amilla is just trying to understand you.

That is why I mentioned all the RC on THIS board who spoke about the masses they go to every week for many, many years. I guess the internet is a better source though ;)

Many people on this board have testified to the fact that when they are at weddings and other places where there might be a lot of non-Catholics present, that they have heard the priest explain that partaking in the eucharist is not open to everyone present in some way, usually a kind and gracious way. And that is fine. But it does kind of negate the position that this is never, ever, ever done.
