Here's my church treat story.

In the military chapels are often shared by the various religions. Often in the building at the same time but at different locations.

One day my DDs and I were walking through an area where the Catholics were having some kind of event. My DDs spotted cookies and of course wanted them. I told them that they could not have them because they were Catholic cookies. A week or so later we were having some kind of event where cookies were being served and I over heard a mother tell a child, "No those are protestant cookie, you can't have them."

>> I respect my child and am happy to provide him with a reason why or why not. <<

I'm glad that works for you. Please don't insinuate, however, that I do not respect my child because I don't feel I owe him explanations or reasons.

I think you give your child a great deal more control than I would mine. You can interpret that as dictating if you so choose.

They are more than welcome to celebrate and receive the eucharist in Catholic church if they go through the same "steps" that Catholics go through.

Isn't that mincing words a bit? The bread and wine are the communion meal. If you don't get to have them, you are not getting communion.
