Tell me this, edg... what point would there be in me going to the VBS down the street to "get involved" when I already KNOW that that church holds views and preaches theology with which I do not agree? Or the other VBS around the corner at the church my friends used to attend and left after the minister preached that people who did not agree with the war in Iraq "terrorists"?
Do you see a point? I don't see one.

Why hide your light under a bushel of bears, I ask you?
Did I criticize for sending to camp? For us camp is not an interest. Summer vacation is his vacation form school. The idea is to give kids a break from their "work". His summer wants work with our lifestyle and work status so leisure to the amount it suits him can happen.
Not a criticism, but I would hope that if 2 parents wohm, and their kid hated summer camp they could find an alternate solution that worked for all family members. Possibly if you grew up with camp as the norm and you don't realize that there is another option or possibly the idea of a leisurly summer would give the heebie jeebies. I only know what our experience is and that of mine and my DH's as we grew up.
We are a laid back, liberal, homeschooling family. I pretty much feel if it works for you, good for you as long as nobody or dogs are being harmed. Heather
Somehow this got twisted into people saying that money is the only reason why a person might stay home all summer, whereas I never said it was the only reason.
So I'm simply clarifying for everyone that I was saying that a lack of money can be *A* reason why a person might decide stay home and vegg all summer.

I am one of those posters who thinks that the PP is giving her son too much control, but it's not because he doesn't go to camp. My reaction was based on her comments that he should have the summer he wants to have, and that she does everything she can to make it that way.

Hmmm, I just signed ds up for a 1 week c++ programming camp that runs 8-5 with not a whole lot of free play (at least according to the schedule). I made very sure that this is what he really wanted before signing him up, though. It costs $650 for one week, yikes!

"That isn't what you said before, but this is getting stupid, so thanks."

Don't you think it's about time someone properly informed them?
But I don't for a minute believe that ~ if repeat bullying is going on ~ 90% of the parents believe the school is bully-free.
