Guess so. Maybe because you are used to your VBS being more of a "business" than a "break" in the summer for ANY child who wants to participate. There was NOTHING "behind" the VBS that I attended and if I felt like they were "solicating" the church to me, I would have not gone.

Sorry, but I never heard that and that is something not done at my church.
And what do they do announce it at the mass? How would they know if the person coming up WAS RCCL OR part of their church?
Your Catholic church has an open table where everyone is welcome to participate in the eucharist?
That would make it a very unusual Roman Catholic Church.
