Neither Kerry, Biden nor Pelosi have been denied communion as far as I know, but some of their supporters have been. And so have openly gay people, whom the local priest judged to be living in mortal sin. Are you saying no one is ever denied communion in a Roman Catholic church?
>> But I have to say I have never heard the phrase 'open table" before. <<
My pastor actually specifies every time we have communion that we practice an open table, so that people who are visitors know what our practices are, and that they should feel free to come up and participate if they want.

Why hide your light under a bushel of bears, I ask you?
This whole discussion has been interesting, but predicated on Cnut's claim that she went to a "mass" after her children's VBS experience. It suddenly occurs to me that she might be using the term mass inappropriately, and that this was a church SERVICE, but not a mass. Didn't we have a long discussion about the different about a year ago?????
They also usually say, at Catholic weddings (the ones I have been to anyway), that if you want to come up and be blessed, you should approach with your arms crossed over your chest.

probably -- I know we had the whole "why dont' catholics bring bibles to mass' conversation recently
Well, I know very few people who would go to a mass and disrespect the traditions by participating in a ritual that excluded them.
It would be like being invited to the wedding service only and crashing the reception. It's crude, rude and socially unacceptable, but not a crime.
