Does working status have anything to do with supervision of children during the summer?

I can't remember exactly what age it was I started leaving the boys alone from time to time. Maybe about ten or eleven. Interestingly enough, neither was really thrilled with the experience. My 13 year old still does not like to be alone in the house at night. Even if I am just driving DH somewhere or picking him up (DH does not drive at night) if the 17 year old is not home the younger one will often choose to come with me.

Just tagging on here.....

The idea that kids at this age are capable of sah alone (or babysitting) is one thing, the idea that they should do so on a consistent basis is another, and where *I* draw the line.

Because it is illegal for a 14yo to work 40 hours a week.
